School is an important part of any child’s life. It is the place where children meet new people, experience new challenges, meet new demands and expand their cognitive, social and emotional abilities.
For this reason, at Kids Biz we see that an integral part of our service is communicating and liaising with children’s kindergarten, preschool, primary school and high school.

1. School Assessments
As part of our therapeutic intervention we go out to a child’s school to observe
how they are able to perform in the class environment. This assists therapist to
have another perspective on a child’s abilities as well as identify elements of the
classroom that impact on a child’s academic performance. The therapist observes a
child’s behaviour and performance in class, classroom set-
2. Classroom Strategies and Interventions
Once a school assessment has been preformed the therapist can then provide strategies that can implement in the classroom to enhance a child’s performance at school. This assists the teacher to understand and monitor the child’s learning strengths and weaknesses e.g. change classroom, routine or teaching modifications.
3. Case Conferences
Therapists can also organise and participate in case conferences with parents and educational professionals (principles, teachers, educational assistance) to discuss areas of concerns and develop consistent protocols and educational plans. We find that this is a beneficial way to ensure that all professionals have a clear understanding of expectations, goals and intervention.
4. Ongoing Teacher Liaison and Communication
One aspect of our therapy is to periodically dialogue with teachers and educational assistances to gather feedback on a child’s performance in class in order to monitor the effectiveness of intervention strategies and then continue or review it from there.
5. Teacher Training Courses and Professional Development
At Kids Biz we also offer teacher training and professional development.
This is often useful for schools where children with specific learning difficulties attend so that all teachers get an understanding into the abilities and difficulties of such children.

6. Schools Plus Application Reports
If a child is needing additional support at school and is not currently able to access a educational assistance, we can also work together with the school to produce a Schools Plus Application. This is an application that specifically applies for aid time in order to assist children to be able to attend and perform in the classroom.
7. Application For Special Consideration For Tertiary Entrance Examination Exams (T.E.E)
This involves an individual assessment and report for adolescents to submitted to the Curriculum Council outlining reasons for special considerations for TEE examinations.
